#NbAChallenge Day 7

This week, in the occasion of National Health Week, we challenge YOU to do one healthy thing with us every day.

Last day and last challenge! Are you ready?

TODAYS CHALLENGE: calm down with the "4-7-8 breathing"

It´s been a long week with lots of entirely different challenges. Now it´s time to focus on de-stressing and calming down!

4-7-8 breathing is a technique developed by Dr. Weil with proven effects on stress and anxiety when used twice daily over time. I´ve been a huge fan for a long time, and notice an immediate effect when doing the 4-7-8 breathing. I feel instantly relaxed and recentered. I hope you´ll love this as much as me!

Here´s how it´s done:

4-7-8 refer to the counts when breathing in, holding your breath and exhaling. Start by sitting up straight in a comfortable position. Next, place the tip of your tongue on the ridge of your gums, just behind your upper front teeth. Slowly inhale through your nose for a count of 4. Hold your breath for another count of 7. Open your mouth slightly, keeping your tongue in place, and exhale for 8 counts. Repeat this cycle 4 times.

Here´s a video that explains how it´s done by Dr. Weil himself.

Stress that stays around for weeks or months can weaken the immune system and cause high blood pressure, fatigue, depression, anxiety and even heart disease. Almost everyone experience some sort of stress, and serious health problems related to too much stress is becoming increasingly common. Taking time to sit down during your day and focus on your breath will recenter you, revitalise your cells with oxygen and reduce stress and anxiety levels.

So light a candle or some incense, make yourself comfortable and breeeeath!

How many of the challenges were you able to do? And how does it feel today? Will you be able to do some of these healthy habits on a regular basis? Comment below:)
